Garden Court Chambers is proud to announce that Stephanie Harrison, Shu Shin Luh and Leslie Thomas have been announced as finalists in the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (LALY) awards. Stephanie and Leslie are both finalists in the Legal Aid Barrister category, while Shu Shin is a finalist in the Young Legal Aid Barrister category.

Stephanie Harrison is known for her asylum and immigration work, undertaking high-profile civil liberties and detention cases.

Shu Shin Luh has a broad practice in social welfare law, working on behalf of children and vulnerable adults.

Leslie Thomas has a focus on bringing claims against the police and prison authorities, and of acting at inquests.

All three finalists expressed their thanks and gratitude to those who have nominated them.

The Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards are organised by the Legal Aid Practitioners Group, as a unique celebration of the often unsung work of those in the public sector. This is their tenth year. The winners in the nine award categories will be announced by Michael Mansfield QC at a ceremony in London on 12 June 2012.
