Garden Court Chambers is pleased to announce the launch of the Legal Expertise Access Platform (LEAP) – an initiative in support of the rule of law in Africa.
LEAP is a not-for-profit, socio-legal expert information sharing platform in support of the rule of law in Africa. Femi Omere, barrister at Garden Court Chambers is the Founder and Director of the organisation, together with Wambui Mwangi, a former member of Chambers.
LEAP is being introduced at a crucial stage in Africa’s development, aiming to transform the continent’s access to cutting-edge socio-legal thinking and practice. Areas which the platform covers include the full spectrum of human rights, criminal justice and humanitarian law, as well as areas of commercial law such as energy, media, land and environmental law.
Many members of Garden Court Chambers have been appointed as experts to the panel:
More information about each of the people above, including their experience in Africa, can be found on their LEAP profiles.
LEAP will officially launch at its inaugural conference event on 19-20 November 2014, hosted by the Law School of Tanzania in Dar Es Salaam. Both Femi and Shiraz Aziz will be speaking at the conference.
