This is a seminar which considers the impact of new legislation and procedural rules which have recently come into force. The seminar will cover the changes in the Mental Health Act 1983 brought about by the Mental Health Act 2007, the impact on Mental Health Review Tribunals and other court proceedings, and an update on case law. The second half of the seminar will specifically address the new provisions governing deprivation of liberty, which have just come into force.

This seminar is not only aimed at practitioners who represent applicants in mental health review tribunals but also at all practitioners whose practice involves mental health and mental capacity issues, particularly in the Court of Protection.
