21-year-old who pleaded guilty to manslaughter sentenced to two years and three months in “extraordinary” knife death case

Oluwaseyi Dada, 21, killed his ex-girlfriend after she accidentally fell on a knife in her bag during an argument. On 9 January 2019 he admitted the manslaughter of 17-year-old Katrina Makunova at Southwark Crown Court.

The couple started fighting after meeting in the lobby of Mr Dada’s block of flats at in Camberwell, London. Dada was arrested on suspicion of murder at the scene, but the charge was reduced to manslaughter. He has been jailed for two years and three months, but will serve half his sentence.
