The Claimant was an asylum-seeker who was granted a scholarship to study at a leading London university. The legal team issued judicial review proceedings on behalf of the Claimant, as the Home Office planned to move them to a rural location in Oxfordshire, which would have made it impossible for them to continue their university course.

Mr Justice Sweeting granted interim relief and ordered the Home Office to keep the Claimant in London whilst the judicial review claim was determined. Fortunately, the Home Office granted the Claimant refugee status prior to the judicial review reaching a final hearing, which meant that the Claimant became eligible for university housing and the claim became academic.

As a result of this success, the Claimant has been able to continue their academic progress which otherwise would have been brought to an end by the Home Office.
