Anna’s supervisors for the first-six were Irena Sabic KC and Rebecca Chapman, and her second-six supervisor is Emma Fenn.
During her first-six, Anna gained exposure to a broad range of public law, immigration, asylum, civil liberties and criminal defence work. She has strong experience in drafting, including skeleton arguments, statements of facts and grounds, grounds of appeal and advices, and she assisted her supervisors with matters in the First-tier Tribunal, Administrative Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights.
Anna qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales in 2019, and obtained Higher Rights of Audience (Civil) in 2020. Prior to coming to the Bar, Anna was Reprieve’s Legal Officer, working on litigation surrounding complicity in torture, unlawful detention and abuses in counter-terrorism, in various courts including the County Court, the Special Immigration Appeals Commission and the European Court of Human Rights.
Anna also has significant experience working in the courts’ system, including as Judicial Assistant and as a Referendaire, giving her a clear practical grasp of litigation strategy and procedure.
Anna was previously an associate solicitor in the dispute resolution group of a leading international law firm in London, and has been an advocate with the Asylum Support Appeals Project for several years.

Overview
Anna aims to develop a broad public law practice, building on her strong background in judicial review from her time as a solicitor, as well as working the Supreme Court, where she assisted the Court in relation to a number of high-profile cases, including R (on the application of Coughlan) v Minister for the Cabinet Office [2022] UKSC 11 in relation to voter identification requirements, the interim relief application in relation to the Government’s planned Rwanda scheme, and the Reference by the Attorney General for Northern Ireland (Abortion Services – Safe Access Zones) Bill [2022] UKSC 32.
During her first six, Anna has assisted her supervisors and colleagues in Chambers with a range of public law matters relating to immigration, asylum, community care and housing.

Immigration, Asylum and Nationality
Overview
Anna aims to develop a broad immigration and asylum practice, building on her strong background in this area from her practice as a solicitor, as well as working with a number of NGOs on migration-related policy, advocacy and litigation.
As a Judicial Assistant, Anna assisted the Supreme Court on a number of high-profile appellate cases, including HA (Iraq) and others v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2022] UKSC 22 and Secretary of State for the Home Department v SC (Jamaica) [2022] UKSC 15 in relation to the legal test for deportation.
Anna was previously Reprieve’s Legal Officer, where she worked on litigation and policy surrounding the deprivation of citizenship, including in the Special Immigration Appeals Commission and the European Court of Human Rights. She has a strong interest in the intersection between abuses in counterterrorism measures, criminal law and immigration, asylum and nationality.
Anna has also worked with I Have Rights, a grassroots legal clinic on Samos, Greece, on a number of third-party interventions to the European Court of Human Rights, as well as other national and international legal advocacy. Anna has a particular interest in claims relating to gender and/or sexuality, domestic violence, and religious persecution.

Anna aims to develop a practice in individual and group claims for workers before the Employment Tribunal, having practical experience of trade union organising, recognition, discrimination and Equality Act issues, as well as the intersection between labour law and immigration issues.

International Law
Overview
Anna has substantial experience in public international law and international human rights issues. As a solicitor, Anna acted for individuals and corporates in several international treaty arbitrations raising questions of public international law.
Anna has also worked on strategic international legal advocacy with several charities and international NGOs, including as a third-party intervenor at the European Court of Human Rights. In 2022, Anna represented the UK Supreme Court at a meeting of the Superior Courts Network in Strasbourg, aimed at exchanging information and resources between higher courts across the Convention space.
