Harry has a strong background in immigration law and has expertise across a broad spectrum of statutory appeals, including asylum, family reunion and human rights appeals. Harry’s practice draws distinctly upon her time spent as a caseworker in the UK and in Athens, and she prioritises a trauma-informed and integrated approach. Harry has a particular interest in challenging immigration detention, drawing on her civil liberties practice, and has extensive experience in obtaining immigration bail for vulnerable clients.

Harry’s recent cases include a successful claim for damages against the Home Office, arising from the unlawful detention of a claimant who was not referred into the National Referral Mechanism, and whose risk was incorrectly assessed.

Inquests and Inquiries
Overview
Harry is experienced in representing bereaved families in Article 2 inquests, and is particularly suited to cases involving prisons, detention and police violence.
Harry is a member of the INQUEST lawyers’ group.
Recent cases that Harry has assisted with includes representing a family in an Article 2 inquest, where their loved one had passed away shortly after having been released from prison into unsuitable accommodation, without adequate care and support. Harry also represented a family in another Article 2 inquest, where the police made written admissions, and the jury found that the failures of the police possibly caused the death of the deceased.

Claims Against the Police and Public Authorities
Overview
Harry has a broad practice in claims against the police and public authorities, and regularly advises and represents Claimants in claims including false imprisonment, assault, malicious prosecution, misfeasance in public office, discrimination and claims under the Human Rights Act 1998, including data protection and breach of Article 8.
Harry also advises on claims relating to false imprisonment in immigration detention. Recent cases of Harry’s include:
- Successful claim for damages against a police force for assault and battery, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution where the claimant was maliciously prosecuted for allegedly assaulting a police officer while being unlawfully arrested;
- Successful claim for damages against the Parole Board for breach of Article 5, arising from prolonged delays in securing the claimant an oral Parole Board hearing;
- Successful claim for damages against a police force for misuse of private information and breach of Article 8 ECHR where sensitive images of the claimant’s family member were improperly accessed;
- Successful claim for damages arising from false imprisonment and assault and battery against a police force where the claimant was unlawfully arrested at his home address;
- Successful claim for damages for negligence and false imprisonment where the claimant had been unlawfully detained in prison after the court failed to properly account for her having spent time in the community on a tag.
- Successful claim for HRA damages against a police force who failed to disclose relevant information under Clare’s Law.
