Overview
Matthew practises across the full range of immigration and asylum work, with a particular focus on cases engaging human rights protections under the ECHR, deportation proceedings, asylum claims, and challenges to Home Office decisions by way of judicial review. He also practises in public law and community care, often in cases where immigration status intersects with entitlement to services.

Challenging unlawful detention under the Hardial Singh principles, bail applications before the First-tier Tribunal, and civil claims for false imprisonment — a specialism of the chambers’ broader immigration detention practice. - Leave to Remain & Settlement
Advising and representing individuals in appeals and applications relating to leave to remain on family and private life grounds, long residence, and the points-based system, including fee waiver issues and deception allegations.
