On Friday 23rd November 2018 (after a week-long jury trial at Central London County Court in front of HHJ Saggerson and a jury), Mr Jason O’Connor won his claims for false imprisonment, assault and malicious prosecution against the Metropolitan Police. He had been subjected to a stop and search in June 2013, during which police officers sprayed him with CS spray, kneed him in the groin and punched him in the head.

He stood trial at Camberwell Magistrates’ Court in November 2013 for obstructing a drug search but the prosecution was dismissed at half-time. The jury found that the police had fabricated their accounts in support of a prosecution against Mr O’Connor. He was awarded damages.
