Defendant acquitted of murdering alleged drug dealer

22-year-old Tristan Gatewood has been acquitted of murder by a jury at Leeds Crown Court.

Tristan pleaded guilty to conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice but denied being involved in the murder of Shuel Ali Hussain. Mr Hussain was shot and killed by Masum Ahmed, an acquaintance of Tristan, in March 2015.

Tristan was represented by Icah Peart QC of Garden Court Chambers’ Crime Team, winners of the Legal 500 Crime Set of the Year Award 2015. Icah was instructed by Jeremy Hawthorne of Kirwans, Liverpool.
