Elena Papamichael was instructed to represent the first defendant in a multi-handed case involving three counts of human trafficking.

Elena’s client was charged with all three counts involving allegations that children were trafficked for the purposes of exploitation.

It was alleged that Elena’s client arranged the transport of three children from London to another town so that they could be made to sell drugs.

The prosecution were represented by Kings Counsel and senior junior counsel. The Crown sought to rely on cell- site evidence, telephone communication, missing persons reports and other evidence.

Elena was able to secure a terminatory ruling in relation to all three counts of human trafficking by way of various legal arguments, which led to the exclusion of the majority of the evidence. This meant her client was found not guilty.
