This event is designed to help solicitors navigate law and procedure when either a public body refuses to accept or disputes responsibility for after care provision. This can be in the community or delay tribunals.

Although S 117 ordinary residence disputes between local authorities are resolved by the Secretary of State this webinar provides a guide to help those representing patients use the law kick start the resolution procedure.

Helen Curtis, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers (Chair)
Helen Curtis’ legal practice concentrates on areas where the liberty of the subject is at stake, particularly in areas of mental health, prisoners and the Court of Protection. She appears before Tribunals, Parole Boards and courts through to the Court of Appeal. Helen was an approved mediator on the Court of Protection Mediation Panel. Helen is regularly instructed to represent P or P’s family member in Court of Protection proceedings in matters of health and welfare or property and affairs. A feature of Helen’s practice is judicial review of decisions that impact on a person’s mental health or the quality of life for P and appeals.

Tim Baldwin, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
Tim is Co-Convenor of the Court of Protection and Mental Health Team and has considerable experience in Court of Protection proceedings concerning health and welfare decisions and Accommodation and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) issues for applicants and all respondents, including emergency applications and instruction by the Official Solicitor.
