Amanda Weston KC, Garden Court Chambers
Amanda is a leading public and administrative law silk. She co-authors Judicial Review: A Practical Guide (Lexis Nexis) and is a member of the ‘A’ Panel of preferred Counsel who act for the Equality & Human Rights Commission. Amanda has over 20 years of experience in judicial review at all levels, including the Supreme Court, in which she appeared in two successful cases last year. Substantive areas of her leading public law practice include social care, mental health and mental capacity, immigration, unlawful detention, trafficking, national security measures such as deprivation of citizenship, prison law, human rights and discrimination. She has particular experience in challenges to both local and central government policy, rules and subordinate legislation.

Irena Sabic KC, Garden Court Chambers
Irena is an experienced and highly regarded public law practitioner who has appeared at all court levels. Her multi-disciplinary practice is rooted in civil liberties and human rights law, which means she is able to conduct test case litigation. She has a particular focus on cases concerning unlawful detention, abuse of power, equality and discrimination and treatment of vulnerable children and adults subject to immigration control. Irena’s expertise is sought-after in individual cases and policy challenges concerning all areas of public, administrative, environmental and immigration law. Irena sits in the High Court as a Deputy Master of the King’s Bench Division and is appointed as Chair of the Health Service Products (Pricing, Cost Control and Information) Appeals Tribunal.

Matthew Ahluwalia, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
Matthew has a lively public law practice and is happy to accept instructions in judicial review cases. His time working as an employed barrister at Public Law Project gave him a strong grounding in public law casework and procedure across a range of different areas of administrative law and public decision-making. He often advises NGOs as well as individuals, and is a regular contributor to LAG’s quarterly ‘Public Law Update’ column. Matthew has been a volunteer advocate with the Asylum Support Appeals Project since 2018, representing applicants who have been refused support under s4 or s95 Immigration and Asylum Act 1999. Matthew is happy to accept instructions in public law matters arising from asylum support issues.
