Dear Friends,

Last October, over 200 legal aid lawyers met to discuss the #cultureofrefusal at the Legal Aid Agency (LAA).

We will reconvene tonight at 6.30pm on 27 February 2020 at the Lecture Theatre of BPP University, Holborn Campus, 68-70 Red Lion St, Holborn, London WC1R 4NY.

Join us to find out the results of the Legal Aid Practitioners Group survey on the culture of refusal at the LAA and to plan a strategy for going forward.

  • Does the LAA have a culture of refusal?
  • What should be done about the legal aid advice deserts?

We are asking legal aid lawyers to unite once again to demand action. We will be speaking alongside Ollie Persey from Young Legal Aid Lawyers Association, Chris Minnoch from LAPG and Cormac Mannion from the Legal Sector Workers Union.

Best wishes,

Tim Baldwin, Garden Court Chambers
Sue James, Hammersmith & Fulham Law Centre
Simon Mullings, Edwards Duthie Shamash Solicitors
