The Protest Team at Garden Court Chambers invites you to a webinar discussion about police surveillance tactics in the context of protests. Panellists will discuss the extent of police capabilities, the scope for legal challenge and strategies for avoidance. The discussion will draw on Privacy International’s Protestor’s Guide To Police Surveillance.
Harmit Kambo is the Campaigns Director at Privacy International. He leads PI's 'Free to Protest' project, which aims to raise public awareness about high tech surveillance increasingly deployed by police forces at protests, and campaign for better regulation about if and how these technologies can be deployed in protest contexts.
Fatima Jichi is a founding member and director of Black Legal Support Group and a barrister at Garden Court Chambers. She will be discussing the implications of protest privacy issues with a particular focus on racialised communities.
Huda Ammori and Richard Barnard are co-founders of Palestine Action. They will discuss the PI guide’s findings from an activist perspective.
Susan Wright, barrister at Garden Court Chambers will chair the event.
