The claimant, Mark Bonnick, has issued legal proceedings in the Employment Tribunal against his former employer, Arsenal Football Club, for unfair dismissal.

Following the club’s investigation into social media posts in which Mr Bonnick expressed opposition to Israel, he was dismissed.

Mr Bonnick, aged 61, claims his dismissal was “discriminatory” due to it being based on his “philosophical anti-Zionist belief”.

The club’s investigation into his posts found they could be “perceived as inflammatory or offensive” and had “brought the club into disrepute”. The investigation did not accuse Mr Bonnick of antisemitism.

Mr Bonnick was employed as a kit manager at Arsenal Football Club Academy when he was fired on 24 December 2024. He had been a member of staff at Arsenal Football Club for 22 years.

An appeal against the club’s decision was rejected in February 2025.

The claim is expected to be heard in 2026.
