We are delighted to announce that Garden Court Chambers has won four awards at The Legal 500 Bar Awards, held on Wednesday 25 September 2024.
The awards are determined by the Legal 500’s independent research for the authoritative annual Legal 500 directory.
We are delighted to be awarded Court of Protection Set of the Year and Immigration Set of the Year. Our Owen Greenhall won Public Law Junior of the Year, and our Deputy Director of Clerking, Lisa O’Leary, has won Clerk of the Year.
We are delighted to be awarded Court of Protection Set of the Year. Our Court of Protection Team has significant expertise in health and welfare matters, Mental Health law, serious medical treatment and property and financial affairs matters. This includes acting in complex cases raising intersecting issues, including deprivation of liberty of children and forced marriage. They act and advise on related claims for damages. Our Bethan Harris and Tim Baldwin were also shortlisted for Court of Protection Junior of the Year.
We are delighted to be awarded Immigration Set of the Year. Our Immigration Team is recognised as the pre-eminent set of barristers in the UK specialising in immigration law. Our team won ‘Immigration Set of the Year’ at the Legal 500 Bar Awards 2023. Our barristers have appeared in many of the cases that have shaped UK immigration law, and we continue to write the leading textbooks on immigration and asylum. Our Sonali Naik KC was shortlisted for Immigration Silk of the Year, and Emma Fitzsimons and Raza Halim were shortlisted for Immigration Junior of the Year.
Our Owen Greenhall has been awarded Public Law Junior of the Year. Owen’s broad practice encompasses all aspects of the criminal justice system, and he is an expert in cases involving freedom of expression. Owen acts in both criminal trials and civil proceedings relating to protests, including actions against the police, public inquiries, inquests, injunctions and possession proceedings. Garden Court was also shortlisted for Public Law Set of the Year.
Our Deputy Director of Clerking, Lisa O’Leary, has been awarded Clerk of the Year. Lisa is a member of the Garden Court Chambers Senior Management Team. She has day to day operational responsibility for the clerking room. Her primary focus is assisting solicitors, choosing suitable barristers for their cases and providing a smooth clerking service.
Our warmest congratulations to Owen Greenhall and Lisa O’Leary for this achievement.
Garden Court Chambers was also shortlisted for Public Services and Charities Set of the Year. Our Keir Monteith KC was shortlisted for Financial Crime Silk of the Year, Amanda Meusz for Family Law Junior of the Year, and our Patrick Roche for Public Services and Charities Junior of the Year.
