Gerwyn Wise has acted in the Court of Appeal in a successful appeal against sentence.
The Court quashed his client’s sentence of 12 months detention and replaced it with a sentence of 4 months.
On 16 September 2025, the 18 year old Appellant was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court to 12 months detention in a Young Offender Institution for an offence of supplying drugs to another. He had smuggled drugs into the dock during his attempted murder trial.
The Court of Appeal agreed with Gerwyn’s submissions that the sentencing judge had fallen into error by taking too high a starting point for the drugs offence and had not reduced it sufficiently to take into account the totality of all offending.
