Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb has granted Ms Julie Kaneza permission to apply for judicial view of the new, reduced levels of asylum support for children under the Asylum Support Regulations 2000, as amended by the Asylum Support (Amendment No 3) Regulations 2015, under which support for children has been significantly reduced (from £52.96 per week for children under 16, to £36.95 per week). The application is supported by an expert analysis of children’s welfare needs.

Stephen Knafler QC is leading counsel for Ms Kaneza, instructed by Michael Bates of Birmingham Law Centre.
