Amanda Meusz acted for the child, A, whose mother was tragically killed by her partner, also A’s father.

Following the killing, A’s maternal grandmother, applied for a court order for A to live with her, prohibited steps order, a change of name order and s91(14) orders. The father’s parental responsibility was revoked, as the Court found that his continued involvement would have a “significant and damaging impact” on the child’s grandmother and, consequently, on A’s welfare.

The criminal case had attracted extensive local and national media coverage. A wide-ranging transparency order was also made, unusually identifying the grandmother and the father.
