The legal team successfully prevented the Home Office from transferring a vulnerable asylum seeker (XY) away from her established support network.
XY faced being dispersed to another part of the country, despite independent medical evidence confirming that she suffered from serious mental health difficulties and would be at high risk of suicide if moved.
Despite repeated requests, the Home Office initially refused to confirm that the dispersal would be cancelled. After extensive representations, lawyers issued urgent judicial review proceedings and obtained an out-of-hours injunction preventing the transfer.
Following this, the Home Office granted XY refugee status and agreed to settle the claim, confirming she would not be dispersed from her current location.
