We are delighted to share that Grace Brown, Joint Head of Garden Court Chambers, has been elected as a Barrister Bencher of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.

Grace has for many years contributed to Inner Temple’s education and mentoring programmes including chairing scholarship panels, mentoring and sponsoring students, providing advocacy training, and giving advice to aspiring barristers.

Grace said:

“I am enormously proud to have been elected as a Barrister Governing Bencher of Inner Temple. I look forward to taking a more formal role in helping the Inn to deliver its first-class education, skills, and Continuing Professional Development training, and to promoting the Inn’s initiatives to widen access to the profession.

“The financial support Inner Temple gave me during Bar School made it possible for me to complete my training. Without it, I doubt I would be a barrister.

“I would like to thank all the members and staff at Garden Court who supported my endeavour to become a bencher, in particular my co-Head of Chambers Stephen Simblet KC, and colleagues Owen Davies KC, Leslie Thomas KC, Malek Daud, Jo Cecil KC, and Minka Braun.”

About the role

The position of bencher – also known as a Master of the Bench – is a high honour. Benchers are responsible for the governance of the Inn and play a vital role in shaping the education, ethics, and development of future generations of barristers.
