Garden Court Chambers is delighted to announce that door tenant Kamran Choudhry has been appointed as a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Shabana Mahmood MP, and the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill.
Kamran will sit in the South Eastern Circuit, based at St Albans Crown Court, with effect from 3rd March 2025 and will be known as His Honour Judge Choudhry. He was called to the Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 2001.
Kamran currently serves as a Trial Lawyer with the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. He has previously held positions at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the Appeals Chamber of the UN-backed Special Court for Sierra Leone.
Kamran’s international experience includes advising governments, NGOs, and Commissions of Inquiry across various jurisdictions. He also practised commercial and civil litigation while working at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in the UK and Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson in New York. Kamran is also admitted to the New York Bar and the Bar of Ireland.
