“The Heads of Garden Court Chambers are pleased to see this wonderful new initiative being launched by the Lawyers Who Care. Even better that it is jointly sponsored by our very own Children’s Rights Team. The essay competition will allow care experienced students an opportunity, which might otherwise not be available to them, to demonstrate their skill and ability and help them along the way to a rewarding career in law. The initiative thus provides a relatively unique opportunity to for care experienced students which is truly very special.”

Garden Court has been a proud supporter of Lawyers Who Care since it began. Lawyers Who Care is a small, brilliant organisation that provides vital mentoring to care-experienced aspiring lawyers to help break down the barriers they face getting into the profession.

We are delighted that members of Garden Court act as mentors in this scheme.

Garden Court sponsors the inaugural Lawyers Who Care David and Iris Freeman Essay Competition 2026 to raise awareness of the issues facing care experienced people and promote access to the Bar.
