Mark Robinson of the Garden Court Crime Team has been instructed to represent one of the lead defendants in Operation Bayburn.
This is a major ongoing investigation led by the Home Office Criminal and Financial Investigation team in Manchester.
The case concerns allegations of involvement in a Gambian and UK based Organised Crime Group alleged to have facilitated the unlawful entry of 200 Gambian Nationals into the UK through the use of forged documents, as well as related money laundering charges estimated to be in excess of £2 million pounds.
Mark’s client is due to stand trial on charges of Conspiracy to Assist Unlawful Immigration to the United Kingdom and Transferring Criminal Property (Money Laundering).
The eight-week trial is listed to begin at Leeds Crown Court in January. Mark is instructed by Unan Choudhury Lewis Nedas & Co and brings his extensive experience in serious and complex financial crime to the defence team.
