Mark Robinson represented the defendant, who was unanimously acquitted of murder after a five-week trial at Lincoln Crown Court.

The defendant was involved in an ongoing feud with the victim’s family. The victim had travelled to another part of Lincolnshire to track the defendant down.

The defendant and co-defendant were alerted by text message that the victim would be coming to look for them. The co-defendant went home and armed himself with a machete, which he had purchased a few weeks prior to that night, and returned to the park to meet Mark’s defendant and wait to see if the victim would turn up.

The victim pursued Mark’s defendant, who was then passed the machete by the co-defendant. After a short struggle, Mark’s defendant then stabbed the victim.

Both defendants were convicted for the lessor offence of manslaughter and for possessing a blade in a public place, and will be sentenced in May 2025.
