Following the recent Supreme Court judgement on the interpretation of ‘sex’ in the Equality Act, Garden Court barrister Oscar Davies yesterday advised a group of MPs on the impact of the ruling, as part of a panel of trans+ lawyers and legal scholars.
The panel event, attended by around 60 parliamentarians, staff and guests, was put together by the Trans+ Solidarity Alliance in partnership with Nadia Whittome MP to inform MPs’ approach to upcoming Equality Act guidance, expected following the judgment in For Women Scotland Ltd (Appellant) v The Scottish Ministers.
Oscar (they/them) is the UK’s first publicly non-binary barrister and is currently writing a book on the need for non-binary legal recognition.
