Garden Court Chambers is aware of one of its members being instructed to present an application to the Home Secretary, requesting that a proscribed organisation be de-proscribed and engaging in publicity surrounding that.

All members of Garden Court Chambers are members of the independent Bar of England and Wales, are self-employed and are regulated by the Bar Standards Board. Professional conduct of members is not regulated by Garden Court Chambers. The barrister concerned has chosen to undertake this application and publicise it in his individual capacity. This in no way indicates that Garden Court Chambers supports his client.

Garden Court Chambers is aware of threats to a member of Chambers. We want to make it abundantly clear that we condemn such threats.  Members of Chambers must be able to carry out their work as lawyers without fear or risk of harm.

Members of the independent Bar should not be identified or conflated with their clients, or their clients’ interests or views, if they are acting in the course of discharging their professional function as their legal representatives.

We take this opportunity as a Chambers to make clear that we unequivocally condemn racism and antisemitism in all its forms.

We are top ranked by independent legal directories and consistently win awards.
