Sophie Lucas of Garden Court Chambers is instructed by Matthew Smith and Eloise Carey of Bates Wells.
Sophie Lucas delivered submissions on behalf of a bereaved family member in the Lampard Inquiry into mental health inpatient deaths in Essex.
The BBC has reported on Sophie’s submissions to the Inquiry – coverage can be read here.
‘Sophie Lucas, representing Lydia Fraser-Ward – the sister of Pippa Whiteward, who died in 2016 – said without a clear roadmap there was a “very real risk that opportunities for learning”, such as the lack of perinatal beds and out-of-area placements, would fall through the gaps.’
In the submissions, Sophie highlighted issues involving perinatal care, including a critical shortage of beds in Mother and Baby Units across the country, and urged the Inquiry to leave no stone unturned in its ongoing investigation.
