The 4th Tsunami Charity Reception, a fundraising event in remembrance of the Tsunami organised by the Association of Sri Lankan Lawyers on 28th November 2008 at Garden Court Chambers, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, was a great success and a lovely evening.
The Sri Lankan High Commissioner Nihal Jayasinghe and his wife Indira as the guests of honour and nearly 100 other guests were privileged to witness a dazzling solo violin recital by Mandhira de Saram’s of the two movements from Bach’s Sonata for unaccompanied violin in G minor, 1) Adagio and 2. Presto (movement 4); and the Fritz Kreisler, Recitativo and Scherzo-Caprice.
"Mandhira was brilliant" – Neville De Silva.
"Mandhira de Saram was wonderful, her performance on the violin was a tour de force. If she gave that superb performance at the Royal Albert Hall, she would have had top reviews in newspapers." – Tom McKinnon
The American auction of a framed child’s painting raised £600 for Tsunami affected children in Matara and we made a profit of over £1500 for the Sri Lankan Lawyers (UK) Tsunami Appeal Registered Charity No. 1108341.
We thank all those who attended this memorable event and have supported us in the struggle against poverty.
