Twanieka Alcindor has secured a not guilty verdict for 68-year-old grandfather of previous good character, after a 12-day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

The defendant was tried for charges of assault and grievous bodily harm. The case involved a family domestic dispute at the defendant’s property, resulting in serious injury.

Twanieka’s incisive cross-examination of a main prosecution witness resulted in the jury quickly returning a not guilty verdict to the charge of assault within hours, in acceptance of the defendant acting in self-defence.

The jury remained hung in relation to the charge of grievous bodily harm for which the defendant awaits a re-trial.
