Twanieka Alcindor of the Garden Court Crime Team secured the acquittal of a 69-year-old grandfather of previous good character after a 7-day re-trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
The defendant was re-tried for charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and wounding in the alternative. The case involved a family domestic dispute at the defendant’s property, resulting in serious injury of a complainant whose fingertip was severed by a human bite.
After Twanieka previously secured an acquittal for other related charges after an earlier 12-day trial, the prosecution proceeded to retrial.
Twanieka’s careful examination-in-chief of updated forensic pathologist evidence and her cross-examination of the main prosecution witnesses resulted in the jury quickly returning not guilty verdicts to all charges within an hour of deliberations.
