XR protestor acquitted following Tube shut down

The defendant took part in an October 2019 XR action aimed at disrupting Tube services in order to highlight the Climate and Ecological Emergency. He was charged with Obstructing an Engine or Carriage Using a Railway, in violation of section 36 of the Malicious Damage Act 1961, after the Stratford Underground station was shut down. He was acquitted at Inner London Crown Court in a unanimous verdict.
