Public hearings for Module 7 (‘Test, Trace and Isolate’) of the UK Covid-19 Inquiry have closed.
Module 7 of the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, ‘Test, Trace and Isolate’ (TTI), came to an end this week, with Chair Rt Hon Baroness Hallett DBE hearing closing submissions from core participants.
Allison Munroe KC of the Garden Court Inquests and Inquiries Team attended and made closing submissions on behalf of Covid Bereaved Families for Justice UK for Module 7 of the UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry.

In her closing statement, Allison stated:
“The reality is that the failure to plan and the lack of capacity for TTI support meant that the UK had far greater mortality and morbidity rates, deaths, serious illnesses and long Covid.”
“We invite your team to bring cool, calm, rational analysis to your conclusions and, in terms of purposeful leadership, to craft bold recommendations that the present government cannot, we hope, ignore, but that they will bring them in and act on them expeditiously and comprehensively, because the legacy that Professor [Deenan] Pillay talks about is not one to be proud of at the moment.
We are back in the situation of 2020, if not worse, in terms of many aspects, such as health inequality, and that cannot be sustained.”
Allison is instructed by Elkan Abrahamson of Broudie Jackson Canter Solicitors. Our Thalia Maragh is on the legal team, alongside associate tenant Pete Weatherby KC of Garden Court North Chambers.
Hamish McCallum of Garden Court Chambers is also acting for Covid Bereaved Families for Justice UK in the Covid-19 Public Inquiry.
