Adrian Berry KC, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers (Chair)
Adrian Berry KC practices across the field of public law, especially in British nationality, statelessness, immigration, EU law and after matters, international protection (refugee status, asylum), housing and accommodation, social assistance, and education. He is ranked Band 1 in Chambers & Partners and Tier 1 in Legal 500 2025 for Immigration Law. He is the co-author of the current 4th edition of Fransman’s British Nationality Law. Adrian is a Patron of the Immigration Law Practitioner’s Association (ILPA), Convenor of its Legislation Working Group, and its former Chair. He was appointed King’s Counsel in March 2025. Adrian provides strategic advice on settlement and citizenship options for persons looking to secure settlement, permanent residence and citizenship in the UK and elsewhere.

Mark Symes, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
Mark Symes provides advice and representation in all areas of immigration, asylum, and human rights law, including European Union free movement law. He has represented clients in every court from the Tribunal to the Supreme Court, and the European Court of Human Rights. Mark deals with all aspects of business immigration work including Sponsor licence challenges, strategy when right to work queries arise, and personal business immigration applications in the investor and entrepreneur legacy routes, and all modern routes ranging from global talent and innovators to Skilled Worker. He also represents all kinds of private clients in personal and family immigration routes, in asylum matters and complex cases outside the rules. He is one of the elite top-ranked barristers for immigration in Chambers UK (Band 1) and the Legal 500. Mark also sits as a judge of the Upper Tribunal and First-Tier Tribunal.

Maha Sardar, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
Maha has been working in the field of immigration, asylum and human rights for almost two decades. She is a versatile barrister able to provide advice and representation to a wide range of clientele. She represents asylum seekers and other vulnerable clients, as well as private clients who want assistance with their personal or business immigration matters. She is very experienced with domestic and international jurisprudence on the Refugee Convention, European conventions (including ECHR, Istanbul Convention and ECAT) and international human rights conventions and standards. Maha is regularly invited to speak and provide training on asylum, human rights, trafficking and immigration issues. She is a contributing author to the leading immigration practitioner text, Macdonalds Immigration Law and Practice. She co-wrote the chapters on “Visits and other temporary purposes” and “Working, business and investment in the UK”.

Ubah Dirie, Barrister. Garden Court Chambers
Ubah Dirie is recognised as a tenacious and client focused advocate who specialises in advice, representation and advocacy in all areas of immigration, asylum, nationality, EU free movement, deportation and detention. She regularly appears in the First tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal. Ubah has developed a reputation as a practitioner who has the ability to explain complex points of law in a simple and straightforward way. Her empathy and manner towards clients mark her out as a clear choice in difficult cases. As such, she is frequently instructed to represent vulnerable individuals including victims of trafficking, unaccompanied asylum seeking children and those with complex mental health issues or without capacity. Ubah also has a particular interest in immigration matters involving EEA nationals and their family members.
