Speakers
Allison Munroe KC, Garden Court Chambers
Allison is a highly experienced family practitioner who regularly conducts cases in the High Court. She undertakes complex public law and adoption matters involving non-accidental injuries and serious child abuse, and has represented parents in complex medico-legal cases involving the withdrawal of medical care. She brings her criminal law experience to cases involving alleged radicalisation and security issues. Allison has a longstanding interest in mental health and frequently represents clients with mental health or learning disabilities, as well as parents with physical disabilities. She also has expertise in immigration-related cases and is often called upon to advise family solicitors where clients face potential criminal proceedings.
William Tautz, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
William acts on behalf of parents, children, and local authorities. He undertakes complex and serious cases including those involving allegations of sexual abuse and serious physical harm. William is a committed legal aid lawyer who continues to undertake publicly funded private children’s law cases that involve complex issues and where very experienced counsel is required. He also accepts privately funded instructions in both public and private law proceedings. William is particularly suited to representing vulnerable clients, including those with a background of mental health issues, trauma, learning needs, or neurodiversity.
Laura Williams, Barrister, Garden Court Chambers
Laura is an experienced advocate in public law proceedings including care proceedings with an international element. She is instructed on behalf of local authorities, parents, kinship carers, Guardians and the Official Solicitor. Laura frequently represents vulnerable clients including parents and children who are neurodiverse. She has completed a Level 2 qualification in Understanding Autism Spectrum Condition, further enhancing her understanding of the issues affecting neurodiverse children and adults in the family justice system.
