Garden Court Chambers shortlisted for Legal 500 Bar Awards 2025

The awards are determined by the Legal 500’s independent research for the authoritative annual Legal 500 directory.

We are over the moon to announce that Garden Court Chambers has been nominated at The Legal 500 Bar Awards 2025, taking place on Wednesday 24th September 2025.

Our teams have been shortlisted across three categories and six of our members have been shortlisted.

Court of Protection

Garden Court Chambers is shortlisted for Court of Protection Set of the Year, with our very own Bethan Harris and Gráinne Mellon shortlisted for Court of Protection Junior of the Year.

Bethan Harris is an experienced practitioner who has been involved in leading Community Care and Court of Protection cases in the High Court, as well as representing Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice Cymru in the Covid-19 Inquiry.

Gráinne Mellon is an established practitioner in Court of Protection and is frequently instructed on behalf of vulnerable children and adults in complex and sensitive cases in the Administrative Court, under the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court and in the Court of Protection.

Immigration

Garden Court Chambers is also shortlisted for Immigration Set of the Year. Stephanie Harrison KC and Ed Grieves KC are shortlisted for Immigration Silk of the Year, and Sadat Sayeed is shortlisted for Immigration Junior of the Year.

Stephanie Harrison KC is a leading public law practitioner with vast experience in complex immigration and asylum claims. Her immigration practice has focused heavily on policy challenges and often crossover with public law, civil liberties and equality and discrimination. Stephanie is highly committed to progressing the rights of immigrants and asylum seekers, and has worked tirelessly to positively change the experiences of immigrants coming within the jurisdiction of the UK authorities. Stephanie is one of the general editors of the 11th edition of Macdonald’s Immigration Law and Practice.

Edward Grieves KC is a public and immigration law barrister who represented U3 in the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC) and the Court of Appeal, and is a leading specialist in closed material procedures, national security, terrorism, serious criminality and domestic/international sanctions.

Sadat Sayeed is a leading practitioner specialising in advice, representation and advocacy in all areas of immigration, asylum, nationality, deportation, detention, national security, EU free movement and human rights law. Sadat particularly specialises in complex, politically sensitive protection cases, the outcomes of which have the potential to impact on relations between states. Sadat is one of the general editors of the 11th edition of Macdonald’s Immigration Law and Practice.

Public Law

Garden Court Chambers is shortlisted for Public Law Set of the Year. This category also recognises civil liberties, human rights and inquests & inquiries.

Owen Greenhall is shortlisted for Public Law Junior of the Year. Owen’s broad practice encompasses all aspects of the criminal justice system, and he is an expert in cases involving freedom of expression. Owen acts in both criminal trials and civil proceedings relating to protests, including actions against the police, public inquiries, inquests, injunctions and possession proceedings.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge on Wednesday 24th September 2025.
