We are delighted to announce that Grace Robertson has joined Garden Court Chambers as a new tenant.
Grace is a family law practitioner with considerable experience acting for all parties, local authorities, parents and children through their guardians, in public children’s law matters. Grace also accepts instruction in private children’s law and Court of Protection cases.
Grace has represented clients up to and including the High Court, which has included experience as junior counsel in a complicated medical treatment case; regularly appearing before the Deprivation of Liberty court; and involvement in forced marriage protection order and female genital mutilation (FGM) order cases.
Grace also accepts instruction in Court of Protection matters, having previously represented a local authority in a public children’s law case which eventually transferred to the Court of Protection.
Prior to joining the bar, Grace completed the Teach First program and taught secondary school English in the UK and in Australia. Grace left teaching to pursue a career in family law, but has kept a focus on children’s welfare at the heart of her practice.
Grace went on to volunteer with Advocate as a caseworker; research the lawfulness of secure accommodation placements with NYAS; and volunteer with BPP’s Housing and Family Law advice clinic, whilst re-training as a barrister.
Grace was awarded the Lord Denning Scholarship by Lincoln’s Inn in 2021 whilst a Bar student.
