Unanimous not guilty verdict for experienced solicitor accused of perverting the course of justice

Following eight days of deliberation the jury in the Hillsborough trial have delivered a guilty verdict against Graham Mackrell, the Sheffield Wednesday FC secretary and safety officer at the time of the disaster.

Ally Law was represented at his sentencing hearing by Tom Wainwright of the Garden Court Chambers Criminal Defence Team when he was given a community order for two counts of aggravated trespass.
Ali Naseem Bajwa QC of Garden Court Chambers represented the defendant, Darran Evesham, who was acquitted of murdering the convicted child killer, David Gaut.

Venables and Thompson were 10 when they tortured and killed James Bulger after abducting the two-year-old from a shopping centre in Merseyside in 1993. In November that year, they became the youngest children ever to be convicted of murder in England.

On 11 March 2019, the Lord Chancellor will preside over the appointment ceremony where he will formally bestow the title of QC.
