Shahida Begum of the Garden Court Crime Team was instructed by Fergus Harrington of ABV Solicitors.
Shahida’s client was a vulnerable individual charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine and possession of criminal property.
Following receipt of the defence statement drafted by Shahida with the invaluable assistance of Fergus, which included several disclosure requests, the prosecution concluded that there was no realistic prospect of conviction and offered no evidence on both counts.
National Crime Agency officers stated that they had observed a co-defendant putting cocaine into a vehicle driven by the defendant. The vehicle was searched and found to contain cocaine and cash.
Shahida’s client denied being part of a conspiracy to supply drugs and maintained that they were unaware anything would be placed into the vehicle or that the cash was from criminal property.
