UK Covid-19 Inquiry Module 10 preliminary hearings open

Preliminary hearings for Module 10 of the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, ‘Impact on society’ opened this week, with Chair Rt Hon Baroness Hallett DBE hearing opening submissions from core participants. A number of these were presented by members of Garden Court Chambers.

Module 10 opened on Tuesday 17 September 2024 and is the final module of the Covid-19 UK Inquiry. This module will examine the impact of Covid on the population of the United Kingdom with a particular focus on key workers, the most vulnerable, the bereaved, mental health and wellbeing.

The module will also seek to identify where societal strengths, resilience and or innovation reduced any adverse impact.

Our Liz Davies KC made opening submissions on behalf of core participant The Domestic Abuse (DA) Group, which is comprised of women’s rights organisations Solace Women’s Aid, Latin American Women’s Rights Service (LAWRS) and Southall Black Sisters, instructed by Public Interest Law Centre.
