IMMIGRATION: ASYLUM AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Overview

Nativa is a specialist in asylum, immigration and human rights law. She has appeared extensively before Immigration Judges both at first instance and appeal in asylum, human rights and Immigration cases as well as Judicial Review cases. She has dealt with numerous entry clearance appeals before Immigration Judges and has an interest in business immigration and European law.

She is known to be approachable, with a hands-on approach to casework and works closely with solicitors advising on evidence at an early stage of an appeal. This approach leads to a better service to clients and solicitors and good success in the litigation process. She is able to explain complex points of law in a simple way both to clients and tribunals, a critical skill doing specialist tribunal work.

Mediation

Overview

Navita has a real-life approach to legal disputes based on managing her own work-life balance and family dependants and uses these skills in mediation. She helps parties to a dispute stand back from the litigation process, find common ground and their own answers to the commercial reality of litigation by using mediation.

Navita recognises the interplay between mediation and litigation. Navita’s skills of intrinsic independence, neutrality and authoritativeness are evident in her handling of the mediation process, particularly with parties who are unfamiliar with mediation. This includes the online mediation experience, in which Navita has completed training, using the Zoom platform. Navita regards the facilitative process of mediation as extremely important in encouraging parties to reach settlement.

As a Board member of a number of charities, including Southall Black Sisters, Navita is constructively involved in conflict resolution within communities. Navita provides extensive training to lawyers and charitable organisations and enjoys sharing her specialist knowledge and skills, particularly in conflict resolution.
